The Friends of Historic Grooms Tavern, a not-for-profit association dedicated to Historic Grooms Tavern, presents “Origins of Christmas & Christmas Ornaments” a lecture by Robert Halley on Friday evening, December 4th, 2009 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Grooms Tavern, located at the corner of Grooms and Sugarhill Roads, Rexford. Preceding this presentation, there will be an open house and holiday reception, when Mr. Halley has generously offered to appraise, free-of-charge, antique ornaments and decorations brought by attendees.
Lecture: The Significance of Taverns

The Friends of Historic Grooms Tavern, a not-for-profit association dedicated to Historic Grooms Tavern, will host a talk on the significance of taverns in the Mohawk Valley by Ronald Burch, Curator of Art and Architecture at the New York State Museum on Friday evening, October 2, 2009 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Grooms Tavern, corner of Grooms and Sugarhill Roads, Rexford, New York. The talk entitled: “Temples of Ease: Accommodating the Upstate Traveler in the Canal and Turnpike Era” is a First Friday Event at the Grooms Tavern and part of the River Days festivities over the weekend of October 2-4 in the Town of Clifton Park.

The Friends of Historic Grooms Tavern, a not-for-profit association dedicated to Historic Grooms Tavern, presents “Origins of Christmas & Christmas Ornaments” a lecture by Robert Halley on Sunday afternoon, December 14th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Grooms Tavern. Preceding this presentation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Tavern, there will be a reception and Open House with live music by the recorder consort “Sweetbrier”, an ensemble of six musicians playing medieval, renaissance and baroque Christmas music on period instruments. Grooms Tavern is located at the corner of Grooms and Sugarhill Roads, Rexford.
Storytelling Program

The Friends of Historic Grooms Tavern, a not-for-profit association dedicated to Historic Grooms Tavern, will host a Storytelling Program with Alden (Joe) Doolittle on Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Grooms Tavern, corner of Grooms and Sugarhill Roads, Rexford, New York. The program will also feature the Dedication of the recently renovated “out house” or “Privy” at the site. Joe Doolittle is known regionally as a storyteller of humorous and historical tales, and will weave stories of rural life, Clifton Park and yes “out houses” he’s known and where’s he’s picked up splinters.

Mr. Scherer’s talk is entitled, “Clifton Park’s Waterfront: An Historical Perspective.”

The Friends of Historic Grooms Tavern, a not-for-profit association dedicated to Historic Grooms Tavern, will host an archeological talk by Fred Stevens on Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2008 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Grooms Tavern, corner of Grooms and Sugarhill Roads, Rexford, New York. Mr. Stevens’ talk is entitled, “Early Man in Clifton Park: Evidence for 10,000 years of pre-Colonial Occupation in Clifton Park, New York.”
